Dan Reeder - Work song

Dan Reeder - Work song from http://bahbeck.vox.com/ via Tomás

In other news, yesterday I learned that some sort of foot-to-pedal fastening device is essential when one is riding around the Curragh and one takes a small jump at moderate speed and it's been raining and one's shoes are old and slippy. When the feet are out of the equation and the only thing left to break one's fall back onto the saddle are one's inner thigh and left nut, one may experience not only physical pain but also the financial pain of a saddle wrecked by being pushed violently to one side by the weight of a screaming nearly-thirty-something.

"Oh no....*crunch*...oh jaysis, oh no", moaned Dave as he slowly rolled onto his back.

"HAHAHA...er, sorry man", giggled Phil. Bastard.

I just noticed I have a daddy badge on my left shoulder. Nice. To celebrate my turning into the kind of Daddy blogger I said I wouldn't become, here's a humorous pic. Make with the cooing noises.

Dean Grey - "Dr Who on Holiday" (2005)

Green Day - "Holiday" (2004)

The Timelords - "Doctorin' the Tardis" (1988)

Gary Glitter - "Rock and Roll Part II" (1972)

Don't you just hate that?

I just realised why some of the links in that "Blogsam & Linksam" bar (which these days is nothing more than my Google Reader shared items) were coming up with "Autor unbekannt" under some of the entries. This server is obviously hosted in Germany and so when my script goes and grabs this feed, Google helpfully sets the default language to German. Simple solution: add "?hl=en" to the end of the request. Ich danke Ihnen.

I really want to try making a Photosynth but I've forgotten my Hotmail/MSN/Live password and, well...

The problem is, I can't quite get the wording right and I've a sneaking suspicion I may have misspelled it first time around...

Folks,

If you ever need to drive a loved one and perhaps your firstborn from Kildare to the airport and then get back to work in Tallaght during rush hour, do yourself a favour: no matter how shit the M50 is on the way back, just stay on it and pay the fucking toll.

Do not have a moment and say to yourself: "I know better than all these saps! I'll get off at the N3 and go down around Phoenix Park into Chapelizod, cutting across to Kilmainham, up the canal, through Walkinstown and down Greenhills Road! Ha ha! Marvel ye at my navimagational skeels!".

Knockmaroon Hill will be your undoing. You will feel the smile drain from your face as you are diverted towards the Strawberry Beds, right down in the gutter of the Liffey valley, passing far, far below the West Link bridge that you would be speeding over even now, had you only chilled the fuck out. Two kilometres of speed-bumped (for others have been "clever" like you before) country road later, you will be spat out in Lucan village and there will be nothing left for you to do but humbly turn with your tail between your legs down the Outer Ring and thence back over the N7 and down to the Tallaght bypass.

Google Maps cheerfully informs me that I covered 101km this morning. It felt much, much longer.

PS - The latter stages of the trip aren't accurately represented on the map because some of the roads are newer than Google's data. Hurry the fuck up with that and all, you fucking hippies.

About

This is LeSinge.org v3.0. It's on its sixth* server since I registered the domain name in November of 2000 and it has gone through several drastic facelifts in that time, usually prompted by some cataclysmic event like someone deleting a load of files they shouldn't, or a server being shut down. This is the maddest layout yet; I'm trying to fit the entire weblog (apart from diary archives and the gallery) into a single loading page using all sorts of PHP-generated DHTML jiggery-pokery. The idea is to make it more inviting to look around since there's no loading between "pages". It's still a work in progress (more a proof of concept than anything), so be patient!

I'm Tringlebert Zinglebars! Dave Whyte, an Irish CS graduate, German speaker, linguist and incredibly talented web developer. I'm originally from Fermoy but I now live in Newbridge with my wife Beth and our son. I'm currently working for these fine folks and enjoying it greatly.

"The Monkey"? Eh?

My nom de guerre comes from an old Eddie Izzard comedy sketch. I also like Calvin & Hobbes. I've cobbled together a searchable archive of the strips.
